Restriction Description - The intent of this fund is to provide scholarships to students who have been involved with soccer.
Background - Michael Carter was a member of the Avondale Soccer program for four years. As a varsity player for four years and a captain for one year, Michael had a tremendous amount of impact on many players within the program. Mike?s involvement was not limited to the varsity team. He started the futsal (indoor soccer) program and donated his time and resources to City Mission, helping organize and run a youth soccer camp for underprivileged children. Michael also excelled in the classroom. He challenged himself with many AP classes and he finished his career with a 3.9+ grade point average. At the time he passed away, Michael was attending Michigan State University where he was enrolled in the Lyman Briggs Program (Pre-Med). The intent of this fund is offer financial assistance to individuals who challenged themselves to succeed as Michael did.
Eligibility requirements - The applicant must:
Applications- Applications will be made available to the Avondale High School Counseling Office for issuance to eligible students. Applications will be accepted October through March at the Avondale High School Counseling Office or as determined annually by the Foundation.
The committee's primary responsibilities are to:
Amount of Award(s) - To be decided annually by the Avondale Soccer Scholarship Committee based on available funds.
Term of Award(s) (Renewals) - Recipients are eligible to apply for annual renewals of the scholarship each academic school year for a maximum of four years providing the applicant is continuing his/her education.
